MOSES LAKE - Ryan Doumit of the Minnesota Twins will compete in the Big Bend Community College Viking Booster Club Golf Tournament Oct. 5 at the Moses Lake Golf Club starting at 1:30 p.m.

Doumit, a Moses Lake High School graduate, plays catcher, outfield and designated hitter for the Twins this year. His father, Pete Doumit, is the new head baseball coach at BBCC.

B.J. Garbe, former first-round pick of the Twins who played with Doumit in high school, also will participate in the fundraising event.

Money raised from the tournament will supplement athletic programs at BBCC that have been affected by recent state funding cuts.

The cost of golf and buffet is $75 or $300 for a foursome.

People who can't golf but would like to donate can sponsor a BBCC athlete to participate in the tournament for $60. The format is a shotgun start with a four-person scramble.

For registration information, contact Linda Chadwick at (509)793-2054.
