Early ballots and forums coming soon

About 14,000 absentee ballots will be mailed out to registered voters in Flathead County on Oct. 9, according to the county election department. That represents about a quarter of the 59,000 registered voters in the county.
Candidate forums and debates scheduled in October will be held in the Flathead Valley Community College’s Arts and Technology Building at 7 p.m. They include:
• Tuesday, Oct. 2 — forum for legislative candidates for Senate District 2 and House Districts 3, 4, 7 and 8.
• Tuesday, Oct. 9 — forum for legislative candidates for Senate District 3 and House Districts 5, 6, 9 and 10.
• Sunday, Oct. 14 — debate between U.S. Senate candidates Democratic Sen. Jon Tester, Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg and Libertarian Dan Cox. Tickets will be made available by random drawing. Visit www.facebook.com/dailyinterlake for details.
Montana PBS and Montana Public Radio will air candidate debates live at 7 p.m. They include:
• Monday, Oct. 8 — debate between U.S. Senate candidates Democratic Sen. Jon Tester, Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg and Libertarian Dan Cox.
• Wednesday, Oct. 10 — debate between gubernatorial candidates Montana Attorney General Steve Bullock and Republican Rick Hill.

Lakeside to Blacktail trails near completion
The Lakeside to Blacktail hiking trail is now fully cleared and the final digging of tread will probably be finished this season. The trail can be easily followed for hiking now. A map is attached.
