The Columbia Falls girls soccer team dropped Whitefish last week to take sole possession of first place in the Northern Class A division.

The Wildkats came from behind in the Sept. 20 game after the Lady Bulldogs posted a 1-0 lead in the first half. Four minutes into the second half, Wildkat Danielle Delventhal knocked in a shot to tie the game.

Lindsay Strouse hit a shot on a feed from Alexi Corbett at the 68-minute mark to take the lead for good.

“I thought the girls did great,” coach Greg Trenerry said. “We played really well. We made some adjustments at the half, and they really turned around and made the transition.”

On Sept. 18, the Kats downed Bigfork 7-0, but they had to settle for a tie against non-conference Stillwater Christian on Sept. 22 in an away game, 1-1. The Kats out shot Stillwater 16-2 but couldn’t find the back of the net.

The girls are now 6-1-1 overall. Their lone loss was to Billings Central to start the season. They faced the Lady Loggers in Libby on Tuesday after presstime and then play a rematch against Whitefish at home on Saturday at 11 a.m.

“Our goal from here on out is pretty simple — win all our games,” Trenerry said.
