COEUR d'ALENE - Coeur d'Alene police say a 26-year-old California man who has been living as a transient is wanted for two robberies early last week.

Police obtained an arrest warrant with a $75,000 bond for Christopher M. Hastings, from Hesperia, Calif., for two counts of robbery.

One robbery was at the Walgreens at 335 W. Appleway, and the other was at the Tesoro gas station at 2301 Sherman Ave.

In a press release Wednesday, Sgt. Christie Wood said detectives developed information that led them to identify Hastings as the male suspect responsible for the robberies.

She said Hastings also is wanted on a felony drug warrant out of California.

He appears to lead a transient lifestyle, and has recently spent time in Coeur d'Alene, she said.

Hastings has a criminal history of violence that includes armed robberies.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Coeur d'Alene police at (208) 769-2320.

Police said last week that the suspect in the Tesoro station robbery lifted his shirt and displayed a handgun tucked into his waistband. The male suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

At the Walgreens robbery, the suspect's physical description matched that of the suspect in the gas station robbery. Police said they believed the incidents were likely related.

The suspect in the Walgreens robbery also lifted his shirt and displayed a handgun in his waistband.

He was not able to get money at Walgreens, but left with cigarettes, police said.

Officers reviewed surveillance video and it appeared he got into a dark-colored vehicle that was waiting outside.
