The Daily Inter Lake | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 12 years, 3 months AGO
ANACONDA — Jaylin Kenney shot an 8-over 80 at the Old Works Golf Course on Friday to lead the medalist chase and help defending Class A state champion Polson take a commanding lead at the state golf tournament.
Polson’s girls lead the field by 28 shots with an impressive 356 total. Laurel, 384, is second.
The Pirates have three more girls in the top 10 after 18 holes. Nicole Clairmont and Peyton Anderson both shot 91, good for sixth place, and Anna DiGiallonardo turned in a 94, which puts her in ninth.
Whitefish’s Erin Tabish carded an 84. That’s good for a tie for third place.
The Whitefish girls, 396, are currently holding down the third spot in the team standings.
In boys play, Belgrade has the best team score, 322, with Whitefish just one-shot back in second place.
Sidney’s Paul Brannan and Bobby Frank both marked 74s to hold down the top spot on the leader board.
Whitefish’s Art Doorn is just one shot back.
The 36-hole tournament ends today.
