Daily Inter-Lake | UPDATED 11 years, 9 months AGO
Arthur John Sturzen “went to be with his Father in heaven” on Sunday, March 31, 2013. He was 92 years old and resided at the Heritage Place in Kalispell. He was a loving and caring husband and father, and will be cherished in all of our hearts.
Art was born on Sept. 2, 1920, to John and Dora Sturzen of Spokane.
He was a skilled tradesman and worked as a plasterer, stucco and cement mason.
Art moved from Spokane to San Bernardino, Calif., in 1946, where he later met the love of his life, Della Morrow, and they were wed on May 23, 1950. They both were active members of the Grace Brethren Church in San Bernardino where they helped form and were sponsors of the Jet Cadets for Jesus Youth Group for the church. Their work was very successful and greatly appreciated by many. Art also served as an active trustee and was always willing to lend a hand.
In 1978 they moved to Kalispell, and shortly thereafter joined Bethel Baptist Church. He again was a faithful servant for the church.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; son, James; all of his brothers, Walter, Martin, Emery and Harry; sister, Edna; and grandson, John VanSantford.
He is survived by his wife, Della, of 62 years; daughter, Jean, and her husband, JD; son, John, and his wife, Darlene; grandsons, Bill and his wife JoLynne, Dave and his wife Jessica, and Tom and his wife Brittney; several great-grandchildren, Nichole and her husband Chris, Rachel, Hailey, Rachel and Joel; and son-in-law, Roger.
Family is being cared for by Bethel Baptist Church and Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home.
The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, at Bethel Baptist Church, 936 Fourth Ave. West in Kalispell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bethel Baptist Church or Home Options Hospice.
