Man admits crimes in three separate cases

For crimes ranging from burglary to assault, a Kalispell man pleaded guilty Thursday in Flathead District Court.
Coby Johnson, 41, accrued his charges in three separate cases in 2012.
Johnson pleaded guilty to a felony count of burglary and a misdemeanor count of partner or family member assault after getting in a fight with his ex-wife on Jan. 20, 2010. She reported the fight to police that day.
She called police again later that evening after receiving a call from Johnson, who said he was in her home, lying on her bed.
Officers went to her home where they saw Johnson through the windows, drinking a beer and sending messages on Facebook. They found the front door had been damaged and the home seemed to have been broken into. Johnson was taken into custody.
When his ex-wife came home, she found all of her underwear and shoes had been put into a garbage bag near the computer Johnson had been using. She also confirmed the damage to the door and that Johnson had been sending Facebook messages while logged on to her account.
In his second case, Johnson pleaded guilty to a felony count of deceptive practices, while a felony charge of forgery and a misdemeanor charge of theft were dropped.
Those charges stemmed from Johnson using or attempting to use a woman’s credit card at least 30 times after stealing it from her home on Aug. 24, 2012, while he was spraying for pests.
Johnson pleaded guilty in his final case to bail jumping after failing to appear for his trial on the first case.
In exchange for Johnson’s pleas, the Flathead County Attorney’s Office is asking for suspended sentences of four years in the first case, three years in the second and two years in the third for a total suggested sentence of nine years, all suspended.
A sentencing hearing has been set for May 30.
