Stumptown Art Studio offers a variety of art workshops for adults this spring, from glass fusing to pottery.

Starting this month, resident potter Stephanie Seguin is offering custom classes in the “Clayground.” Interested students may request lessons to suit their own schedules. Included in the $65 fee are two hours of instruction in wheel throwing or other clay techniques, all materials, firings and one independent visit back to glaze pieces. A minimum of three students is required.

The project for the monthly glass-fusing class is an introduction to the craft, in which students will make a fused, slumped plate. The class takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. The May 8 class will be an exploration of “kiln carving” using fiber paper to achieve a bas-relief effect in thick blocks.

Precious metal clay earrings is the theme this spring in the workshops taught by artisan Kris Kramer. Precious metal clay will be combined with synthetic gemstones or other embellishments to create a pair of long, dangly earrings in this month’s class, which is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. April 15. The May 13 workshop will feature creating post earrings of your own design. All supplies are provided, including $25 of the silver clay, in the $85 fee ($80 for members).

In addition to these specialty workshops during the months of April and May, Stumptown Art Studio will offer its regular monthly art classes and clubs. For more details, stop by the studio, 145 Central Ave., Whitefish; visit www.stumptownartstudio.org or call 862-5929.
