A man allegedly involved in two theft sprees in 2012 and this year pleaded not guilty to a pair of felony charges Thursday in Flathead District Court.

Travis Eilers, 32, Kalispell, is charged with theft and criminal mischief.

He allegedly stole or was involved in the theft of nine purses, four wallets, hundreds of dollars in cash, three checkbooks, a debit card, credit cards, gift cards, collectible coins, jewelry, a cellphone, a GPS unit, two iPods, a duffel bag of personal belongings, a camera, stamps, keys and Sunday school materials.

The items were stolen from vehicles in Columbia Falls and Kalispell between Nov. 3 and 26, 2012, and March 2 and 18, 2013.

According to a court document, a Kalispell police officer got into a pursuit with Eilers while trying to pull him over on March 18 as he was being sought in connection with the thefts.

The officer eventually apprehended Eilers, who allegedly said, “I’m not going to lie to you, there is a purse in the vehicle ... it’s not mine, I’m trying to get rid of it for someone.”

A gift card that was traced to one of the crimes was allegedly found on Eilers during a pat-down search. While executing a search warrant on his vehicle later, officers allegedly found a pawn slip and several other items that connected Eilers to the crimes.

If convicted of both his charges, Eilers faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000 as well as any restitution. His next hearing is May 8.

Eilers is currently incarcerated in the Flathead County Detention Center, where his bond is set at $100,000.
