Mission girls impressive in wins

ST. IGNATIUS – A battle of District B boys and girls tennis teams took over the courts last Thursday, as Mission took on Ronan in St. Ignatius.  

The Lady Bulldogs made quick work of the Maidens, winning all four singles matches to take the lone doubles match, taking the series 5-0.  St. Ignatius would only drop two sets to Ronan, as Ronan’s Hannah Bird Ratter pushed Mission’s Cierra Dougherty to the brink before losing 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.

The second set Mission lost was in doubles competition against Ronan’s Samantha Ashley and Shannon Saint.  The two Maidens took the first set against, But Mission’s Brianda Jackman and Daisie VandenBos took the next two, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.  

On the guys side, the two Mission Valley teams played to a 3-3 draw, with plenty of exciting games. After dropping the first set 3-6, Mission’s Troy Bontrager battled back, taking the next two sets from Ronan’s Tallon Fortine 6-3, 6-4, for the win.  

On Friday, St. Ignatius traveled to take on Valley Christian.  Both teams made quick work of Valley Christian and didn’t drop a set. The boys won 6-0 and the girls won 5-0.

Final Team Score: St. Ignatius 3 - Ronan 3
