POST FALLS - A 63-year-old Otis Orchards, Wash., woman was cited for failing to stop for a stop sign after a three-vehicle accident in the Post Falls area Tuesday night.
According to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, Kathryn A. Spring was traveling westbound in a 2010 Volkswagon Jetta on Prairie Avenue at 5:34 p.m. when she failed to stop at the intersection of Pleasantview Road.
The front end of the Jetta collided into the driver's side of a 2007 Honda CRV driven by Diane Borgwardt, 53, Rathdrum, that was southbound on Pleasantview. After the collision, the Honda slid into a 2003 Ford Escape, which was driven by Kerry L. Johnson, 55, Post Falls, and stopped at the stop sign facing eastbound Prairie.
Borgwardt was transported to Kootenai Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. She was treated and later released. Spring and Johnson received minor injuries that didn't require them to be transported, according to the KCSO.
The intersection was closed for more than two hours during the investigation.
Idaho State Police and Hauser Lake Fire assisted.
