1982 Vikings to be honored at banquet

COEUR d'ALENE - The 1982 Coeur d'Alene High football team, which romped to the state A-1 championship with a 12-0 record, will be honored as this year's "Legends" team at the 51st annual Idaho Sports Banquet, scheduled for Saturday, April 13 at the Best Western Coeur d'Alene Inn, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Coached by Herb Criner, Coeur d'Alene posted four shutouts and outscored its opponents 338-108, capped by a 55-13 rout of Twin Falls in the state title games.

Statistical leaders included Scott Wellman (1,322 passing yards), Dave Kuykendall (658 rushing yards), Dan Hannon (674 receiving yards) and Mike Cox (25 of 25 PATs, 8 field goals).

Also that night, Eric Yarber, Charles A. "Bud" Ford, Steve Burrato and George (Les) MacDowell will be inducted into the Idaho Athletic Hall of Fame.

Idaho football coach Paul Petrino will be the featured speaker at the banquet.

Tickets can be purchased at the Best Western Coeur d'Alene Inn.
