Helen Faulkner Schoelen was born July 13, 1933, in Red Bluff, California, to Dr. and Mrs. James Faulkner. She was the fifth of nine children. She entered eternal rest April 5, 2013, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, surrounded by her children and her loving husband, Francis.
Helen graduated from high school in 1951 at Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Red Bluff, Calif. Later she graduated from Armstrong College in Berkeley, Calif. She met the love of her life, Francis Schoelen, while still in high school. They were married on January 29, 1955. After obtaining his degree in engineering in 1956, they moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where their family grew to a total of eight children.
In 1991 Helen and Francis, now retired, moved to Post Falls, Idaho, in order to practice their Traditional Catholic faith by attending Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls. Here they raised two of their grandchildren.
Helen’s greatest joy was her family, raising and nurturing her children and loving her husband. Helen was blessed with a number of years in which to watch her grandchildren grow as they came to visit regularly and enjoy the beauty of North Idaho. She will be greatly missed by her husband, surviving siblings, Jim, Nancy and Susan, her eight children, her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Rosary devotion will take place on April 10, 2013, at 6:30 p.m.., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The funeral Mass will offered on April 11, 2013, 8:00 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls.
The Schoelen family offers many thanks to the Dominican Sisters and the entire Immaculate Conception Church community for their prayers and support.
