Hot or cold, alpaca socks are a treat for your feet

Whether I'm flying on an airplane or out at the barn with the horses or at the gym I have my trusty alpaca socks on my feet. I truly love them! I still have other brands in my drawer but I always reach for my alpaca socks. Now let me tell you why. Maybe it's because I could (If I chose to) wear them for several days in a row and not have stinky feet. It could also be that my feet always feel dry with my alpaca socks due to their exceptional ability to wick moisture unlike cotton or wool socks. I used to complain of cold feet on a regular basis but with alpaca socks my feet are much warmer than ever before. This alone has been truly life changing! I can now focus on living life outside and not on how uncomfortable I am when it is cold. I can leave the ski slopes when I'm tired not because my feet are cold and burning. This is awesome!
When it warms up our sport weight alpaca socks are also great to keep your feet cool and dry. I remember one Boy Scout trip when I was hiking up Half Dome in Yosemite with my son. That was a long day in the summer heat but my son and I were one of the first to get down the mountain and neither one of us had blisters yet many of the other boys and dads limped to the finish with the pain of blisters. The combination of alpaca socks with its slippery fiber that prevents blisters and good quality hiking boots assured a great day of blister-free hiking.
Alright...I have one more story to tell you before I get off my soap box. When I first discovered alpaca socks I gave a pair to my mom. Let me tell you, she's one hard customer. If she tried something and didn't like it then she'd tell you about it straight up! Instead she said, "OK where are the rest of my socks?" To this day she is so enamored by her alpaca socks that when she wears holes in them she just flips them over and wears the top of her sock on the bottom of her foot. Silly mom! Now I trade her the old socks for the new ones so she has to give up the "holey" socks before she gets new ones. I guess when it comes to alpaca socks it's like mother like daughter! We both love alpaca socks and I'm sure you will too.
Over the years we have perfected the designs and styles of our alpaca socks and now have over 30 combinations of styles and colors to choose from in our Hayden store. We hope you will come by and try a pair or two and discover that alpaca socks are a treat for your feet all year long!

Give the gift of warmth
As the old saying goes, "Cold feet, warm heart," but when your feet get cold, it's hard to feel jolly this time of year. For most of my life, I’ve struggled with staying warm when the weather turns cold. I remember always wearing jackets growing up and still being constantly cold until about 11 years ago when I discovered Alpaca. This was life changing for me. Finally… I was warm! I was determined to introduce the wonders of alpaca fiber to others and we had just started raising alpacas for my daughter’s 4H project. I wanted everyone to experience the warmth of alpaca apparel, but it had to be high quality and reasonably priced. My husband suggested we launch a website and a few months later “AlpacaDirect.com” was born.

Elderly people give us joy and wisdom
Last Saturday we loaded up our Alpaca socks, scarves, yarn and teddy bears from our store in Hayden to attend the Home and Garden show featured at the Garden Plaza independent living retirement center in Post Falls. Our host Beverly was very gracious to allow us to be part of this very special event. They have quite a facility for our elderly community members! The best way to describe it is a town within a town. It's much like the Hilton in that you have a top notch place to live with all the amenities (Post office, gym, spa, hair salon, restaurants, activities) which are located inside of the living center area. I noticed how the guests were part of a close knit community since they live within walking distance of their neighbors and do not have to bother going outside or driving. Spending the day with these folks brought back fond memories of times earlier in my life where I spent a large part of my time with the elderly.
