* SOFTBALL
COEUR d'ALENE - Kayla Albertson hit two home runs as the Coeur d'Alene Vikings beat the Shadle Park Highlanders 8-3 in a nonleague softball game at Larry Schwenke Field on Wednesday.
The victory gives coach Larry Bieber his 400th win in his 20th season at Coeur d'Alene High.
"It's just gratifying to know that over the 20 years, we've averaged 20 wins a year," Bieber said. "It's not because of what I've done coaching, but what the kids have done and surrounding myself with good coaches. I've got some good assistant coaches this year with Travis (Smith) and Julie (Stark). It takes a good group to get the job done."
Lindsie Scholwinski struck out 11 and drove in two runs for Coeur d'Alene (7-1), which travels to Lewiston for a 5A Inland Empire League doubleheader on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Airport Park.
"Shadle Park just put some hits together in the fourth inning and hit the ball pretty good," Bieber said. "Then 'Ski' (Scholwinski) had them pretty much hoodwinked the entire way."
