Police and sheriff's deputies are searching for a man suspected of an attempted rape alleged to have occurred in the 1800 block of N. 15th Street, not far from Cherry Hill Park.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 29-30 years old, with reddish hair, a scruffy goatee, of average height and weight, and wearing a dark-colored Carhartt jacket and tan Carhartt pants.

The victim, a 16-year-old girl, reported she was assaulted at approximately 7 a.m. by a man who was following her on foot. The teen sustained some injuries while attempting to flee. She made it to a nearby residence where the homeowners let her in and called police.
