Betty Eileen Fields, 86, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away April 15, 2013, at Kootenai Medical Center. She was born Dec. 13, 1926, in Spirit Lake to William and Julia Williams.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She lived 61 years in Coeur d’Alene where she was involved in many activities. She loved dancing, enjoyed bowling, served as Cub Scout den mother and worked in clothing retail. Betty enthusiastically followed her children and grandchildren in their sporting events.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Harry, in 2006. Betty is survived by her children, Bill Meartz (Rose) of Beaverton, Ore., Zip Meartz (Mary Ann) of Snohomish, Wash., and Dick Fields (Patty) of Coeur d’Alene; grandchildren, Erin Sippel (Eric), Jeremy Meartz (Dana), Matthew Meartz (Tracy), Chris Fields (Jess) and Amy Shannon (Tyke); great-grandchildren, Ali, Ben, Ethan, Ella, Cameron and Annmarie; sisters, Helen Backlund of Spokane and Thelma Williams of Beaverton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel.
