“Farmer” to many of his friends, Malcolm was born in Langsville, Ohio, March 6, 1921. Malcolm came to Idaho by way of train at 17, to work in the CC camps on the Coeur d’Alene River.

He met Margaret Thayer and in 1939 they were married. Malcolm was a B-Company engineer for the Marine Corps in World War II, serving until the end of the war. When he came back to the Silver Valley, he worked as a hard rock miner. Malcolm and Margaret finally settled in Coeur d’Alene where they raised their four children, Hilah, Celia, Forrest and Margie. They divorced in 1963, and Malcolm moved to Nevada to mine there. That is when he met and married Mary Lou Vidovich.

Malcolm helped raise Mary Lou’s two children, Bud and Kathy. They eventually moved back to North Idaho, where Bud and Kathy finished school. Malcolm went back to the Sunshine Mine and that is where he worked until retirement. He and Mary Lou moved to Oregon, but as his health started to fail, they moved back to Idaho to be closer to family. Mary Lou passed away in 2006 after battling cancer. Malcolm has spent the last 2 1/2 years at 4 Seasons Assisted Living in Dalton Gardens.

He is survived by his children, Hilah Boehles, Celia Morales, Margaret Laverdure, Kathy Schneller and Bud Vidovich. Malcolm loved and was loved by his many grandchildren, Brett and Todd Pequin, Terry Strife, Tonya Palaniuk, Angie Hoon, Kara and Cassie Pierce, Andrew, Sam, Will and Laura Vidovich. He was preceded in death by his son, Forrest and grandsons, Derek Pequin and Allen Rogers. Malcolm will forever be loved and missed.
