EPHRATA- Methamphetamine was found in the vehicle a Moses Lake man used during a car chase that ended in a crash at the intersection of Broadway and Alder Street Sunday afternoon.
Burnette A. Saloy, 54, was charged with three counts of hit and run which caused injuries and one count each of vehicular assault, attempting to elude, methamphetamine possession, third degree theft and resisting arrest.
After Saloy was apprehended by police officers he was transported to Moses Lake Police Department for questioning. Saloy reportedly admitted to fleeing from the officers because he didn't want to be caught with the stolen items. Saloy was transported to Grant County Jail after police finished questioning him.
Police officers obtained a warrant Sunday to search the vehicle Saloy was driving during the chase. The stolen alcohol, food and toilet paper from Safeway were found in the trunk.
According to the police report, drug paraphernalia with white powdery residue as well as a digital scale was found inside the car. Methamphetamine was also found under the floorboards of the car.
