Eleanor (Stramer, Shea) Landsberger passed away peacefully at the home of her son Bernie Shea in Polson, April 12, 2013.
She was born Nov. 2, 1921. She was the oldest child of Matt and Clara Stramer of Hazelton, N.D.
Eleanor graduated from Hazelton High School in 1939. She attended Valley City State College and taught in a one-room country school near Hazelton.
In 1947 she married James Shea; together they raised eight children, and farmed on the Shea family homestead until Jim's death in 1963.
Eleanor continued to farm with the help of her eight children and their uncle, Melvin Shea.
In 1975 she married Francis Landsberger and moved to his orchard on Finley Point north of Polson, where she lived until the time of her death.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husbands, James Shea and Francis Landsberger; brother, Neal Stramer; sister, Miriam Hawken; and grandson, Mathew Shea.
She is survived by her brother, Bill Stramer; and sisters, Bertha Lunzer, Lucille Hogan and Lola Karls. Surviving children and their spouses are Joe and Pat Shea of Hazelton, Pete Shea of East Glacier, Virgil and Teresa Johnson of Great Falls, Denis and Connie Shea of Post Falls, Idaho, Nick and Barb Shea of Saint Maries, Idaho, Jack and Mary Burgess of Columbia Falls, Eric and Ann Creighton of Kalispell, and Bernie and Tina Shea of Polson; along with 39 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Eleanor was a lifelong Catholic and was very devoted to her faith. It guided her daily living and was an example to all.
Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Viewing and rosary will take place at 5 p.m. on April 19 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at Immaculate Conception Church.
A rosary will be said at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, at Saint Paul's Catholic Church in Hazelton. The final procession will follow and interment will take place at 10 a.m. at Saint Paul's Catholic Cemetery.
