The Libby tennis teams faced challenging teams and even more challenging weather at the Cut Bank Invitational this weekend.

Polson dominated team play, but Logger Head Coach Kyle Hannah said it was good experience to get out and face some good teams.

“We had some great competition,” Hannah said. “And we also had 40-mile-an-hour winds. That’s an element our kids in Libby haven’t seen.”

Hannah said from top-to-bottom his kids were improving. In particular, Jason Schnackenberg was hitting the ball well.

The girls have been consistently improving but are far from top game.

The Loggers travel to Columbia Falls today to play on an interlocking rubber surface that should give Libby athletes more experience with playing on strange surfaces.

In other local action, Troy’s girls lost a close match to Mission, 4-2 Saturday.

No. 3 singles Jordan Williams took Mission’s Cierra Dougherty to a tiebreaker before falling 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6).

Troy’s boys tied with Mission, with two resouding victories in the doubles matches and Michael Goe taking a match in the No. 2 singles from Mission’s Katz Yelsa.
