Election canceled
This year’s election for School District 6 board of trustees has been canceled because the only candidates who filed were the three incumbents and there were no challengers.
Grad party
Columbia Falls High School seniors are reminded to turn in their permission slips for the Class of 2013 graduation party by April 20. Forms can be found in the office, on the high school Web site or by calling 892-1162 to have one e-mailed. Coldstone Creamery in Kalispell has offered to donate 15 percent of profits made at their store on Wednesday, May 1, from 5 to 10 p.m. to help fund the party. Outdoor youth
The Montana Conservation Corps is looking for teens 15-17 years old to participate in their Youth Service Expedition program this summer. Two sessions of outdoor adventure and volunteer service will take place in the National Bison Range, southeastern Montana and the Rocky Mountain Front. Bill requires verification before issuing driver's licenses
A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.
Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.
Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
