Aletha Heisel Erhardt, 92

Aletha Heisel Erhardt passed away on April 10, 2013, at her home in San Mateo, Calif. She was born in Medicine Lake, Mont., to Leona and Mike Frandsen and raised in Montana and Coeur d’Alene.

Aletha attended Coeur d’Alene High School where she met her future husband, Fayne Heisel, and they were married in 1939. In 1955 they moved to northern California with their three children, Paula, Mark and Eric. In 1967 they moved to Belmont, Calif., and shortly after Aletha went to work for Sears where she worked for 14 years.

After Fayne’s death in 1979, she joined a square dance club where she met Peter Erhardt. They were married in 1983 in Kauai, Hawaii. Peter and Aletha enjoyed traveling and driving their Model T’s and Model A’s. Peter passed away in 2008. Aletha was very active and loved bowling. She served as her league secretary for more than 25 years. She also enjoyed her weekly bingo games and dinner out with the girls.

Aletha is survived by her daughter, Paula Smalling and husband Phil of Boone, N.C.; son Mark Heisel and wife Linda of Hope; and son Eric Heisel of San Bruno, Calif. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Curtis, Greg and Tamara of North Carolina, and Britt and Joe of Idaho; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lee, Robert and Ed Frandsen; and a sister, Evelyn Hayes.

A memorial service for Aletha will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Sneider, Sullivan and O’Connell’s Funeral Home in San Mateo.
