Following some tough competition at Kalispell last week, the Bigfork High School tennis teams will travel to Whitefish on Thursday before hosting the Bigfork Flight Tournament on Saturday.

Bigfork competed against Flathead and Glacier high schools on April 9 with the Valkyries coming away with a 4-3 victory over Flathead. The Valkyries lost to Glacier 5-1, while the Vikings lost to Flathead 6-1 and fell to Glacier 7-1.

“The boys and girls competed well against Kalispell teams who have shown they’re more experienced,” BHS girls coach Paul Wallin said. “They played some tough matches.”

Against Flathead, the Valkyries wins’ included Brooke Bonner, Genovieve Gibson and Lana Berg in singles action, and the doubles team of Shelby Scoggins and Alannis Stallknecht.

“Shelby and Alannis showed they are a good doubles team,” Wallin said.

The doubles team of Kayla Casalegno and Mariah Bradstreet was victorious against Glacier.

For the Vikings, Logan Lamm and Isaac Martel  won in doubles play against Glacier, while Adam Jordt won a singles match against Flathead.

Wallin said the coaches are juggling their lineups early in the season in order to get players as much as experience as possible.
