Economics expert to speak Monday at NIC
John Mitchell, former chief economist for U.S. Bancorp and economist for the Western Region of US Bank until 2007, will speak on regional economics and job growth. A panel with local business leaders will follow. This event is part of the annual Cardinal Connections Symposium.
North Idaho College invites everyone to the forum "46 Months, Headwinds, Tailwinds and Challenges" at 11 a.m. Monday in the Edminster Student Union Building Driftwood Bay Room. The event is free.
Following the presentation will be a panel including Christina Edmundson, NIC business administration instructor; Tom Johnson, CEO of Spokane Teachers Credit Union; and Alivia Metts, regional economist for the Department of Labor.

Paving of Old U.S. 95 section starts Monday
A section of Old U.S. 95 from its junction with Idaho 53 to Chilco Road will undergo paving work starting Monday at 8 a.m., the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The work, scheduled to finish Friday night, will involve a speed limit reduction to 25 mph. One lane will be open for drivers. Flaggers will direct motorists through the area.
