SAN JOSE, Calif. - Erik Meyer threw for 242 yards and eight touchdowns as the Spokane Shock beat the San Jose SaberCats 69-47 in an Arena Football League game at the HP Pavilion on Friday night.

Adron Tennell had nine catches for 117 yards and three touchdowns for Spokane (5-0), which outscored San Jose (2-2) 41-13 in the second and third quarters.

Spokane entered the week as the top team in the AFL Coaches Poll, with San Jose fifth.

On the season, Meyer - a former Eastern Washington standout - has now thrown for 40 touchdowns with no interceptions and is 135 for 190 passing.

San Jose quarterback Aaron Garcia threw for 309 yards and five touchdowns and five interceptions - all by Spokane defensive back Paul Stephens. The total is a new AFL single-game record.

Spokane hosts the Tampa Bay Storm next Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Spokane Arena.
