Frantic moments on I-90

COEUR d'ALENE - Kon Shiva had a lot to talk about over dinner on Sunday night.
Shiva and others were headed to Coeur d'Alene for dinner when they caught on video a series of accidents and near-misses caused by a DUI suspect on eastbound Interstate 90 in the Coeur d'Alene area.
"It was an adrenaline rush and we were also on the phone with (law enforcement)," said Shiva, who owns a vehicle tinting shop in Spokane and posted the video on Facebook. "We definitely had something to talk about for the rest of the day.
"We saw some clouds of dust, and then came to the conclusion that the driving was not usual. We were blown away by it."
No serious injuries were reported, which Coeur d'Alene Police spokeswoman Christie Wood called "quite remarkable."
Glenn M. McNutt, 50, Coeur d'Alene, was arrested for DUI, aggravated battery, three counts of leaving the scene of an accident and no insurance after the 2006 Kia passenger car he was driving stopped at the bottom of the 15th Street exit.
"He was a menace on the roadway," Wood said.
McNutt's vehicle was heavily damaged from striking at least five other vehicles, Wood said.
The video caught a damaged Honda Civic that had just spun around on the freeway and struck a guardrail after allegedly being rear-ended by the Kia.
"I didn't even see him coming," the driver, Lindsey McCuaig, of Post Falls, wrote on Facebook. "I am fine. Just sore and a little air bag burn on my hand. So lucky."
McCuaig, a Lakeland High graduate, is pregnant, according to police.
McNutt was allegedly uncooperative with officers after his vehicle came to a stop and had to be physically removed from the car, police say.
"He was revving the car and ready to go," said Wood, adding that the vehicle was too damaged to continue.
The rampage started at 5:30 p.m. in the Highway 41 area and continued into Coeur d'Alene.
"The suspect appeared to be intentionally striking other vehicles," a Coeur d'Alene Police press release states.
Blood-alcohol test results are pending.
McNutt has eight previous bookings in the Kootenai County jail - all DUI-related - from 2006 to 2011.
