On Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, Carl Smith passed away suddenly but peacefully from heart failure.
A native of Iowa, veteran of the Korean War, stationed in Alameda, Calif. Graduate of the University of San Francisco. Moved to Athol in 1980 with his wife Carol Sinclair, deceased. Settled on 10 acres, where they built their home and shop, affectionately called “The house that Feathers Built” referring to their business Feathers on Leathers. He was active in supporting his wife in the artists community of the Northwest Traveling from North Idaho, Spokane, Seattle, Portland to San Francisco, selling their artwork.
Carl was an avid hunter most of his life. Participated in many rendezvous, as a sharp shooter, won several awards.
In his later years, he loved to play cribbage and crossword puzzles were a passion. He will be missed by family and friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Henrietta Smith; his sister, Jean Ann Smith and his wife, Carol Sinclair; and is survived by his daughter, Linda Fish; grandson Cole, son Marc of Nampa; cousins, Dennis and Sena Lauritsen of Wood, S.D.; and many friends who will hold him in their hearts.
