A Kalispell man on Thursday denied allegations that he beat, held at gunpoint and eventually raped a woman in April.
Charles Barlow, 35, is alleged to have gotten upset with the woman and hit her in the head before holding a .22-caliber rifle against her head and forcing her into the bedroom.
Barlow allegedly used a knife to cut some of her clothing off and ripped off the rest before raping her.
He is then alleged to have dragged her to the bathroom to make her take a shower, and a court document states that when she came out, she saw police at the door.
The court document also indicates that a live .22 round was found in Barlow’s pocket as he was being booked into the Flathead County Detention Center.
Barlow is charged in Flathead District Court with felony counts of sexual intercourse without consent, assault with a weapon, and aggravated assault, as well as a misdemeanor assault-related charge.
If convicted of all four charges, Barlow faces between two years in prison plus 24 hours in county jail and 140 years in prison plus 6 months in county jail as well as a fine of up to $150,500. His next hearing is set for Aug. 28.
