Legion baseball: Senators drop Lakers twice; Mission Valley splits with Belgrade

HELENA — A late-game rally left the Kalispell Lakers one-run short in the opener and just two hits led to no runs in the second game as Helena’s Senators won the AA American Legion baseball doubleheader on Sunday.
The scores: 4-3 and 8-0.
Kalispell pushed two runs across the plate in the top of the seventh to get within one.
The Lakers struggled at the plate in the second outing.
Kalispell played a doubleheader with Belgrade at Griffin Field on Saturday, but results from those games were not available.
Kalispell is back in action Saturday hosting the Mission Valley Mariners for two seven-inning games. Play starts at 1 p.m.

POLSON — Alex Killian doubled and homered in three plate appearances and drove in three runs, but it still wasn’t enough for Mission Valley as Belgrade’s Bandits came out on top in the first game of a Class A nonconference doubleheader matchup with the Mariners.
Mission Valley did all of its scoring in two innings — a three-run fourth and a four-run seventh.
Brennan Andrews went 3 for 3 for Mission Valley and scored a run.
Mission Valley, however, rebounded in the second game to pick up the victory with Killian again swinging a hot bat. He doubled twice and drove in two runs.
Zeke Webster-Yaqui doubled and went 3 for 3 for the Mariners.
Jeremiah Crawford had three hits in four plate appearances for Mission Valley.
Bradley Pichler singled twice in three trips to the plate and drove in a team-best three runs for Mission Valley.
