Norman 'Norm' James Letchet, 83

Norman “Norm” Letchet, 83, of Osburn, passed away July 26, 2013, at his residence. He was born Oct. 19, 1929, in Coeur d’Alene. Norm was the son of Frank Letchet and Dora Coroline (Hohman) Letchet.

Norm was a lifelong resident of the Silver Valley and had graduated from Wallace High School.

Norm had been employed as manager of Combination Foodliner in Wallace, a salesmen for Kaman Bearing and as manager of the Wallace Elks Club.

Norm was a member of the Wallace Elks, the Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Wallace Gyros. Norm enjoyed bowling, golf, and most of all, socializing. He was also a member of bowling leagues in Kellogg and Wallace.

Norm married Verna Mae Keim on May 14, 1966, in Coeur d’Alene. Prior to his marriage to Verna, Norm had been married to Betty Mae Lindley.

Norm is survived by four children, Barbara Letchet of Portland, Ore., Beverly (Steve) Powers of Coeur d’Alene, Harvey (Jan) Keim of Osburn and Diana Keim of Wallace. He is also survived by grandchildren, Brett and Matt Powers, Jordan and Jesse Keim; and two great-grandchildren, Kambrya and Dayne Powers.

Norm was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Verna and three sisters, Victoria Schuettenhelm, Francis Gillies and Marianne Badgley.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at the Wallace Elks Club, with the Wallace Elks presiding. A potluck reception will be held at the Wallace Elks Club following services.
