A change in ownership and occupants in the building is compelling the move of Elmer's Restaurant from 300 W. Neider (at Highway 95) to the former Perkin's Restaurant building at 290 W. Appleway.

Located just north of Interstate 90 between the LaQuinta and Guest House Inn motels, the new Elmer's should open about the third week of August. Elmer's opened in Coeur d'Alene in 2003, and Perkins closed in 2011.

Originally from Puyallup, Wash., Elmer's franchise owner Jason Helmholz came here in 2006. He regrets that most of his 32 employees will have a "break" during the move; however, he anticipates hiring about six more people.

The two locations are nearly identical in space with seating for 160 customers at booths and tables. The Northwest decor will be accented by a fireplace.

The Elmer's chain started in 1960 and has 23 Northwest outlets. The menu stresses "seasonally fresh entries and made-from-scratch favorites in a comfortable dining experience."

Hours here start at 6:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. They also offer a banquet facility for special events. Phone 665-7148. Check www.eatatelmers.com.

Nutrishop opens at Neider/Government

Health products, supplements, weight-loss products, diet plans and training apparel are offered at Nutrishop. The store opened in the lower level of the strip mall at 3514 Government Way (at Neider Avenue facing Black Sheep and Costco).

Franchise owner Toby Schindelbeck said the store's goal is "to help North Idaho lose unwanted fat, gain lean muscle and become healthier with more energy to enjoy life in our beautiful city." He previously operated Nutrishop stores in California. His associate is Matt Mainwald.

Nutrishop is approaching 200 stores in 256 states. Hours here are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 10 to 5 Saturdays. Phone 292-4611. Check www.nutrishopusa.com.

Smoke Eazy at 405 Best

Electronic cigarettes and about 100 flavors in insertable juices are featured at Smoke Eazy.

The special juices still have nicotine, but not the negative aspects of tobacco cigarettes such as tar and the smell, according to Angel Rodriguez. He owns the business with his brother Izzi and Pauli Wesselmann. Angel came here from Twin Falls after visiting Izzi here.

They also offer about 35 designs of battery-powered holders. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. They anticipate opening a store in Post Falls. Phone 758-0651.

Now for the Tidbits

- Plenty of dirt is being pushed at obvious locations. In front of K-Mart it's simply for repaving the parking lot. A parking lot also is the objective on the west side of Third Street across from Dave Smith Frontier Sales. The vehicle company also plans a multiple-bay service center on its property between Third and Fourth streets.

- Rumors abound for a new six-story condo building in downtown Cd'A.

- The new owner of the vacating Elmer's building at Neider-Highway 95 evidently plans for a natural grocery-vitamin cottage store. More later.

- Wiggett's Marketplace antique store is not moving back to its former location in the old Montgomery Ward building at Fourth and Lakeside. But something is happening there. Wiggett's remains at 115 S. Fourth St, and in Silver Lake Mall.

- RV's Northwest is celebrating its grand opening Aug. 2-10 at 6520 Government Way. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Phone 665-0025.

- The new SpringHill Suites by Marriott hotel will open Monday at 2250 W. Seltice Way. More later...

- Style note: Capitalize "page" and "chapter" when used in front of a numeral such as "Page 2."

- Gargoyle is olive-flavored mouthwash.
