Youth Ranch officials say donations needed

BOISE - Officials with the Idaho Youth Ranch said they're seeing dramatically fewer donations this summer compared to previous years and managers are worried there may not be enough to get through the winter.

Youth Ranch Vice President Jeff Meyers said that only about 20 boxes of household goods were in the warehouse Wednesday. That compares to about 1,300 boxes used to fill the shelves of 27 thrift stores last July.

Meyers said typically donations pick up in May and build through June and July and then drop off significantly in the winter. He said he's not sure why donations are slowing this year.

The Idaho Youth Ranch uses money from the thrift shops to help at-risk families and youth dealing with abuse, mental illness and family conflicts.

Police treating fatal shooting as homicide

TWIN FALLS - Authorities in southern Idaho said a man is dead after a shooting in Heyburn.

The Minidoka County Sheriff's Office said that authorities were called to a report of a shooting at a home in Heyburn, and when they arrived, 36-year-old Craig Glen Short was pronounced dead at the scene. The Minidoka County Sheriff's office released few details but officials said they were treating the death as a homicide.

Police are looking for two people of interest in connection with the case.
