Man accused of vehicular mayhem

A Lakeside man has denied pushing another vehicle through a garage door with his pickup truck just three months after being given a 10-year suspended sentence for felony criminal endangerment.
Michael Ray Jackson, 46, is alleged to have gotten into an argument with someone at a party on Feb. 24, then going to the man’s house and pushing a Dodge Durango from the driveway through the garage door, damaging both.
According to a court document, the person who drove the victim to the party returned to the victim’s house after seeing Jackson’s vehicle leaving the subdivision. A later inspection of Jackson’s truck allegedly showed damage consistent with the damage to the other vehicle and garage door.
The alleged incident occurred nearly three months to the day after Jackson’s Nov. 29, 2012, sentencing on his prior case.
In that case, a court document stated Jackson texted his girlfriend “game on” after she broke up with him, then showed up at her house. While she was inside her vehicle there, he slashed one of the tires and broke her passenger mirror, then used his truck to push her vehicle toward the house while yelling “it’s on.”
Jackson also reportedly pointed a rifle at the woman’s friend and struck her van with his truck.
He was originally charged with two felony counts of assault with a weapon and two misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief but later pleaded guilty to felony criminal endangerment and was given the 10-year suspended sentence.
If convicted of the new charge, Jackson faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000, as well as possible restitution and revocation of his suspended sentence. He was originally arrested on a $30,000 bond, but was later released on his own recognizance.
His next hearing in the new case is set for Sept. 18, while a hearing on the proposed revocation of his suspended sentence is set for Aug. 22.
