COEUR d'ALENE - Cowgirl up!

Chicks n Chaps is hosting its fifth annual all-women rodeo clinic at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds Aug. 23 where a cast of lady participants learn about bull riding, steer wrestling, team roping, and barrel racing from real cowboys and cowgirls.

The event runs from 2 to 9 p.m. and kicks off the PRCA rodeo series and Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night.

The event costs $75 and includes fair admission, a line-dancing lesson, dinner, a silent auction, T-shirt, gift bag and preferred rodeo seating. Proceeds will help local breast cancer victims through the Kootenai Health Foundation Cancer Patient Support Fund, as well as go to the Fair Foundation which supports many local projects, including providing college scholarships to graduating seniors.

Participants must be 21 and older to participate. Space is limited to 150 participants. Info: Mary Larson, Chicks n Chaps co-chair, 691-2197 or visit www.northidahofair.com.
