MOSES LAKE - Flapjacks and tradition will be on the menu at the annual Cowboy Breakfast, the longtime kickoff for the Moses Lake Roundup and the Grant County Fair, Friday morning from 7 to 10 a.m. in Sinkiuse Square.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage, eggs and a beverage. Cost is $8 and adults older than 10 years of age, and $4 for children 10 and younger, said Tom Heath, breakfast chair.

Dale Roth of Dale Roth productions will provide the music.

Breakfast is sponsored by the Moses Lake chapter of Kiwanis, the Moses Lake Business Association, the rodeo association and Michael's on the Lake. Michael's provides the pancake batter, sausage and eggs; Kiwanis volunteers do the cooking.

Back in the day fair week started with a parade, which eventually evolved into the breakfast. Along with flapjacks the breakfast serves up the Pee Wee Rodeo, beginning at 9 a.m.

It will be open to children 9 years of age and younger. There will be the Little Miss Moses Lake Roundup Queen contest, barrel racing on stick horses, stick horse bronco riding and roping using a dummy calf.

Proceeds from the breakfast support Kiwanis projects, Heath said.
