Edith Irene Kiser was born Dec. 14, 1917, in Minneapolis, Minn., to George and Lillian Gordon. She passed from this life on Aug. 3, 2013. Her 95 years were filled with family and the delights of making a good home for them.

Edith spent most of her youth in Eastern Montana. She met the love of her life, Arlie Addison Kiser in the early 1940s. They married and moved to Dalton Gardens in 1947. Arlie was a farmer and foreman at Kaiser Aluminum.

Edith and Arlie were the parents of three children, Margie, Robert and Irene. Edith loved to garden and cook. People said, “Edith canned everything that could be put in a jar.” She was famous for her lemon meringue pies, homemade donuts and fried bread. And she loved to talk, entertain guests in her home and play bingo. Arlie and Edith eventually made their home in Hayden Lake. Arlie passed in 1993.

Edith is survived by her children, Margie and Irene; her grandchildren, Phil, Tonya, David, Jerry and Monte; her great-grandchildren, Angie, Wynter, Cole, Brooke, Nicholas, Emiley, Grant and Grace; and many other family members and friends.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Edith Kiser will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. Dr. Michael L. Lewis, Senior Minister of the Dalton Gardens Church of Christ will be leading the service. Interment will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
