Bulldog fall sports begin this week

Fall sports practices at Whitefish High School start up this week.

Football

Practice begins Friday, Aug. 16 at 7:30 a.m. Students are to pick up equipment, turn in paperwork and check out lockers on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 3 p.m. at the Whitefish High School weight room. Everyone must be there. Athletes will need cleats, running shoes and athletic clothes for practice. Coach Ross — 250-7111 email: chadross@centurytel.net

Cheerleading

Students who are interested in trying out are to report to Whitefish High School weight room on Monday, Aug. 19 at 9 a.m. Wear a T-shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes, and bring a water bottle. Coach Beckett — email: dani_beckett@hotmail.com

Volleyball

The first team meeting is set for Thursday, Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Whitefish High School weight room. All necessary paperwork will be handed out at this time. First practice is Monday, Aug. 19 at 8 a.m. at the WHS Gym. Arrive by 7:45 a.m. Wear athletic clothing and shoes and bring a water bottle. Coach Scott — email: scotts@wfps.k12.mt.us

Golf    

Practice begins Thursday, Aug. 15 at 9 a.m. at the golf shop at Whitefish Lake Golf Course.  Practice time will be announced daily by Coach Olson. Coach Olson — email: pro@golfwhitefish.com

Girls Soccer

Tryouts will be held on Monday, Aug. 19 between 7:30-9:30 a.m. Participants need to come prepared to play with soccer cleats and shin guards as well as the completed paperwork. Coach Farrens will be collecting paperwork prior to the start which will begin promptly at 8 a.m.

Tryouts will continue through the week with two-a-day sessions from 7-8:30 a.m. and 4-5:30 p.m. Coach Wendy Farrens — email: wendyfarrens@gmail.com

Boys Soccer

Tryouts begin Monday, Aug. 19 from 8-10 a.m. and from 4 -6 p.m. at the Smith Soccer Fields. Bring all required paperwork, cleats, running shoes, water bottle, your own soccer ball, shin guards and soccer socks. Coach Byrd — email: coachbyrd@hotmail.com

Cross Country

Cross Country will start Aug. 19 at 8 a.m. Meet outside the locker rooms. Participants need to have all required paperwork and clothes and shoes appropriate for running. Coach Sara Brist— email: jornic@centurytel.net

Paperwork

All participants must bring a completed physical, activities consent/release form, drug testing opt-in/out form, and concussion form. Paperwork can be picked up from each individual program coach, Whitefish High School weight room or the Whitefish School District business office. Rehberg to attend rally for Jesus statue

Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg will attend a public rally in Whitefish on Nov. 10 in support of the World War II statue of Jesus on Big Mountain. Rehberg will be at the VFW Post 276 on Baker Avenue at 1 p.m.

Sled Dog Days pints for a purpose

Flathead Sled Dog Days is gearing up for its fifth annual dog sled race Jan. 6-8. Race organizers have partnered with the Whitefish Winter Carnival to become part of their festivities next month.
