There's nothing worse than waking up in the morning with a stiff neck! Such an inconvenience can sure put a damper on your day when you can't even turn your head to one side. What causes this "pain in the neck" and how do you get rid of it?

The source of a stiff neck is not always fully understood; however, it's most commonly a result of stiff or strained muscles and possibly even sprained ligaments. Determining whether you are feeling less pain as you stretch, or increased and sharper pain as you move, will often be a good indicator as to why you are experiencing this discomfort.

For immediate relief, anti-inflammatory medication can help reduce your pain. To ensure complete recovery and prevention of such pain in the future, undergoing physical therapy is a smart choice. When a physical therapist is able to assist you in recovering from a strained neck, you are more likely to implement the appropriate actions to ensure no future damage is done to your body. Physical therapy will help you ease tension, create flexibility and enhance range of motion.

At Pinnacle Physical Therapy, our therapists are experts in restoring and improving motion. They are trained in overall strengthening techniques, reducing joint pain, and much more. If you are suffering from tight muscles, abnormal body movement, sore joints, or any discomfort at all, we can help you! Our goal is to assist patients in maintaining the maximum independence in your daily activities, while reducing functional disability. At Pinnacle, our physical therapists are continually enhancing their knowledge while they maintain the tools to help you regain proper function, and strength.
