Loud car leads to neighbor dispute

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got a report Wednesday regarding a man waving a gun around on Trails End Drive in a dispute with neighbors over a loud car. It turned out the gun was an Airsoft gun, and the dispute was settled without law enforcement assistance.

There was a report from Mission Trail regarding a vehicle vandalized with oil.

A man calling from Ashley Lake Road reported that his hired painter was bit by a neighbor’s dog that has been causing ongoing problems. The dog was impounded at the county animal shelter.

A Harmony Court resident reported being approached by two men attempting to sell her children’s books. The woman said the men were suspicious and made her feel uncomfortable. Another Harmony Court resident had a similar report, saying a book seller was “very pushy,” and he left in a vehicle with a Nevada license plate.

There was a report regarding an intoxicated man walking along Montana 35 in Evergreen and nearly stumbling into traffic.

There was a report regarding an intoxicated man making threats to neighbors and driving a truck onto a lawn on Shady Lane.

Kalispell Police responded to a report of a couple of guys setting up a tent in a parking lot off Hutton Ranch Road Wednesday night. The men ended up taking down the tent and leaving.

There was a report of a suspicious man sleeping in some grass off Third Avenue East. The man eventually got up and walked away.

At about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, there was a report of a man beating up a woman outside a bar on U.S. 93 South. It was determined to be an argument only, and the parties were separated.

There was a report of a window broken out of a building on South Main Street, but it didn’t appear that anybody entered the building.

There was another report from a South Main Street business regarding a window shot with BBs.

There was a report from a casino on West Idaho Street about a belligerent man who attempted to take money from someone else’s machine. After the man was asked to leave several times, officers made it clear to him that he is never allowed back in the business.

There was a report of a disorderly man outside a business on South Main Street who was bothering customers. After being contacted by officers, the man said he intended to walk to Missoula.

Whitefish Police got a report Wednesday about a suspicious RV with swastikas all over it at a parking lot on U.S. 93 west of town.

There was a criminal mischief report involving garbage cans turned over on East Sixth Street.

A woman calling from a Wisconsin Avenue address reported that her intoxicated boyfriend slammed her head into a wall and choked her, leading to his arrest for partner-family member assault. On the way to jail, the man attempted to get out of his handcuffs, and did get out of his waist chain. He was secured with the help of Kalispell Police.

There was a report of a disorderly, intoxicated man attempting to start fights at a Central Avenue bar. The bar owner wanted him removed.

A man calling from Second Street West reported that his unlocked green Jeep Cherokee was stolen. The keys were in the vehicle, and it disappeared about five minutes after the owner was approached by a stranger for a cigarette.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to 340 Harrison Blvd. at about 8 a.m. Thursday for a reported fire. It turned out that a fire had started in an exterior planter box and then spread to the exterior of the house. Firefighters arrived within minutes and extinguished the fire. Fire and smoke damage is estimated at about $2,000.
