ANACONDA — The two-time defending state champion Polson girls golf team got the new year started off right Monday, easily beating the field at the season-opening Anaconda Invitational at Old Works Golf Course.

The Pirates finished with a team score of 387, outpacing Livingston (423), Frenchtown (429) and Anaconda (430) for the team win. 

All five Pirates girls placed in the top 10, led by Jaylin Kenney who won the meet with a round of 91. Teammate Nicole Clairmont finished in second place with a 94. Peyton Anderson and Heather Frank finished tied for sixth at 101 and Lauren Dupuis was tied for eighth at 102. 

The Polson boys finished fourth as a team, with Ryan Thurman scoring an 85 to finish tied for sixth. Alex Killian was ninth with a 91 and Reno Lindesmith was 10th with a 92. Curtis Capdeville (102) and Dalton Noyes (109) finished outside of the top 10. 

The Pirates get back on the course Wednesday to take on the best in Western Montana at the Missoula Invitational.
