Eugene Patrick Murray, 85, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013.
Gene was born July 18, 1928, in Priest River to Charles and Elvina Murray. He was raised in Priest River and graduated from high school in 1946. After graduation Gene worked in North Idaho as a mechanic, logger, bulldozer operator and shop foreman for Murray Equipment until his retirement at 63 years of age. Gene enjoyed gardening (especially tomatoes), traveling, fishing, making rope baskets to sell at the Farmer’s Market, and he loved spending time with his family.
On July 31, 1950, he married Lougene Deitzel from Sandpoint. They recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. Together they raised four children, Patrick (wife Pam), Dianne (husband Carl), Mike (wife Deneil) and Rick (wife Diane). Gene is survived by three of their four children (Pat preceded him in death on July 30, 2012, from ALS); two siblings, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gene was preceded in death by three siblings.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at St. Pius Catholic Church, 625 E Haycraft Ave., Coeur d’Alene, followed by a graveside service at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 681 Cemetery Road, Priest River. Yates Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
