Sawyer returns as Chiefs' assistant

SPOKANE - The Spokane Chiefs have announced that former captain and assistant coach Kevin Sawyer will return to the organization as a part-time assistant coach for the 2013-14 season.

After playing as a Chief for three years, ultimately as captain of the 1994-95 team as a 20-year-old, Sawyer played professionally for eight years. He holds the club record for career penalty minutes with 989 in 176 games played. Sawyer assisted with the Chiefs from 2004 to 2006, and again last season.
