Police chase ends with wreck on temporary bridge

A Whitefish man was apprehended and arrested Monday afternoon after wrecking a stolen 1994 Jeep Cherokee on the temporary Second Street bridge and fleeing from Whitefish Police officers in pursuit.

Jacob LeDuc, 19, reportedly sprinted west across the bridge immediately after wrecking into a barricade. He was nabbed shortly after near the Whitefish River and was taken to the hospital.

Traffic was blocked for 20 minutes until crews cleared the scene.

The Jeep was reported stolen Aug. 14 from West Second Street.

LeDuc was charged with vehicle theft, eluding an officer, criminal endangerment, DUI, no driver’s license, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, probation violation, and a warrant.
