Bill Nicholls of Butte stands before the Moving Wall prior to the start of the opening ceremony Thursday at Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish. Nicholls, a member of the Patriot Guard Riders, accompanied the wall from Idaho to Whitefish. Visibly affected by the wall and the more than 55,000 names written on it, Nicholls said: “We all have a lot of friends on that wall.” The Moving Wall will be open to visitors 24 hours a day until Sunday afternoon. The closing ceremony is set for 4 p.m. Sunday.
