Woman gets five years for forgery, prostitution

A Kalispell woman will spend five years incarcerated with the Montana Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to one felony and four misdemeanors.
Andrea Wyatt, 23, was sentenced Aug. 15 to five years with the Department of Corrections with a recommendation that she be placed in the drug and alcohol treatment program at Passages in Billings followed by placement at a prerelease center.
That time is to be followed by 10 years of probation. She also was ordered to pay a $466 fine.
Wyatt had pleaded guilty to felony forgery as well as three misdemeanor counts of prostitution in one case and misdemeanor theft in a second case. Four other counts of prostitution were dismissed as part of a plea agreement; the theft charge was reduced from felony theft.
Wyatt stole a checkbook from Milton Courter, with whom she had been performing sexual acts for $400 in cash or Walmart merchandise per encounter.
The 77-year-old Courter allegedly reported his own prostitution activity with Wyatt in order to report her and her boyfriend, Trevor Lanktree, for stealing and forging his checks. Courter also was charged with seven counts of prostitution, all but one of which are felony charges.
Wyatt’s theft charge was the result of her and Lanktree stealing tools from Western Building Supply by concealing them in a baby carrier. Wyatt later pawned the items. She also stole a bicycle, snow blower and two snowboards.
Lanktree’s charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement encompassing five other cases. He faces between one year in jail and life plus 40 years in prison as well as a fine of up to $150,000 when he is sentenced. A hearing was initially set for July 18 but it was continued to an as-of-yet unknown date.
Courter has pleaded not guilty. His next hearing is set for Aug. 28.
