Golf: Doorn, Tabish win starter tourney

WHITEFISH — Whitefish’s Art Doorn and Erin Tabish took first place at the Northwestern A Starter golf tournament at Whitefish Lake Golf Club Wednesday.
Whitefish, Libby, Columbia Falls and Frenchtown participated.
Doorn shot a 73 to top the boys, besting teammate Cooper Donahue and Frenchtown’s Troy Wolff and Chris Delaney by seven strokes. Whitefish’s Cody Olson and Cole Turgeon were eight and 10 strokes back, respectively.
Jonny Cielak shot an 85 to lead Libby and Gabe Love led Columbia Falls with a 101.
Tabish shot an 80 to win the girls’ competition by 14 strokes. Frenchtown’s Darby McNally was second with a 94 and Whitefish’s Katie Fyall was third with a 95. Whitefish’s Georgia Donaldson shot a 101 to finish fourth and Whitefish’s Simone Craft was fifth with a 106.
Hanna Stewart’s 138 led Libby.
