Hayden reserve company to deploy

The U.S. Army Reserve, 455th Engineer Company located in Hayden is scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan next week in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The soldiers of the unit are responsible for route clearance patrols, engineering operations missions, training local counterparts and providing security for U.S., coalition and host nation forces.

The 455th have been training since May 2012 and have recently completed 28 days of training at the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, Calif. They will also be traveling to Fort Bliss, Texas for additional training prior to deployment.

A deployment ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Central Valley High School, 821 S. Sullivan, Spokane Valley. The event is open to the general public.
