DISABLED: No sympathy earned

In the letter from L.C. Williams on Aug. 18, the first issue is people parking in disabled parking without a wheelchair. The signs do have a symbol of a wheelchair on them but it’s only a symbol. Many people are disabled but do not use wheelchairs. You are an insult to the disabled!

I do not use a wheelchair because I choose not to. I can walk and yes, carry my own packages. On a good day my oxygen level is at 82. I cannot walk from “left field.” Don’t judge others, who may be worse off than you.

People who have a disabled place card hanging from their mirror, 98 percent are disabled. That’s like saying stop helping hungry children in life because some take advantage. You cannot think that way. I think you are bitter because of your disabilities. Don’t judge — same with public bathrooms. You don’t know that the person who is using the disabled bathroom isn’t disabled. That sign does not mean “wheelchairs only.” You know this so stop judging.

“Merging” means traffic is coming onto a roadway. Be a good driver and let them on. Do you want them to run out of roadway and cause an accident? I think you’re unthoughtful, selfish and unkind. Get out of the merging land (slow lane) if you cannot drive.

I pity your poor husband to have to listen to all your complaining day after day. Did you ever think it could be you? Don’t judge, don’t cause an accident and The Press is right — wait your turn.

Now last but not least, your poem from your grandson. He wrote it to you? Then enjoy it. Hang it on your wall so you can see it. For a small fee, The Press will print it. Otherwise, wait your turn like all of us. You are not special because of a wheelchair.
