Golfers give it a go at Whitefish tourney

Columbia Falls High School opened its golf season with a tournament in Whitefish on Aug. 21. The Wildcats played in the Northwestern A Starter golf tournament on the south course at the Whitefish Lake Golf Club.

Gabe Love hit 101 to take 13th, Henry Chisholm hit 103 for 14th, Joey Tamburelli hit 110 for 16th, Grant Wallace hit 121 for 18th, and Mason Fetters hit 133 for 20th. Whitefish’s Art Doorn won the tourney, shooting a one over par 73.

The team played in a tournament in Ronan on Monday and in West Glacier on Tuesday after presstime. They play again at home at Meadow Lake on Sept. 9.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
