Golfers give it a go at Whitefish tourney

<p>Wildcat golfer Grant Wallace chips from the rough as the golf season opened in Whitefish last week. It was a non-scoring event, and players only went nine holes.</p>
Columbia Falls High School opened its golf season with a tournament in Whitefish on Aug. 21. The Wildcats played in the Northwestern A Starter golf tournament on the south course at the Whitefish Lake Golf Club.
Gabe Love hit 101 to take 13th, Henry Chisholm hit 103 for 14th, Joey Tamburelli hit 110 for 16th, Grant Wallace hit 121 for 18th, and Mason Fetters hit 133 for 20th. Whitefish’s Art Doorn won the tourney, shooting a one over par 73.
The team played in a tournament in Ronan on Monday and in West Glacier on Tuesday after presstime. They play again at home at Meadow Lake on Sept. 9.
